Painting Price concessions for Artists - by Rizwana Mundewadi

absolutearts.com Portfolio

Considering that in any field when we see professionals or private businesses people offer concessions and sales to their field people. Can an artist offer another artist an artwork for less. Many professionals either offer service free or some concessions in goods from the same field people. A doctor may give free servie of checking up to another doctor's family and only charge for medicines, a chemist gives some concession in the total billing, and so on, when an artist loves the work of another artist but cannot afford it, would it be right to ask for a concession for fellow artist?

I feel why not, when other fellow groups support their kin why not artists? Artists are known to be great appreciaters of art. An artist is the only person who can understand the processes involved in making of a piece of art. And would also be the best to value your art. And who knows one day when the rates of the artist shoot up they may own an heirloom for ages to go!

There is also another aspect to this as to how much concession can be allowed in pricing. It is better to be grounded than going emotional and selling  off your work for much less. Giving a reasonable concession of maybe twenty to thirty percent I feel would be appropriate as you also consider the costs involved in materials and shipping, maybe you can also let go of the shipping charges , the line has to be drawn some where, otherwise I would end up bankrupt if sharing art for free..among artists and friends!

Negative Expression of Emotions in Art

absolutearts.com Portfolio
I was viewing few artist works and wondered what some artist go to express, is it that there is so much emotional turmoil within, is it that THEY ARE FRUSTARTED SOULS IN SEARCH OF EXPRESSION, OR JUST FOR PLAIN ATTENTION!
Art can be expressed in avrious forms, a sculpture with broken arms, a collage with torn papers to make form and also blobs of paint splashed. Art does make me question what artists are made up of. An expression which cannot be controlled and an expression which will some how come out in one form or the other.  Am I avoiding these emotions or it is just that I feel there is too much sadness, unhappiness in this world and I just do not want to increase the agony by doing hatred art.
Negative emotions and paintings have been an important part of art history since ages and there are prominent artists who have expressed  negative emotions in their art. I am not a trained artist so no pun intended, I do not understand art very well. I have to study deep each artwork to be able to understand the artist, which makes me then follow up to understand their ART. Anger, fear, lonliness, hatred, violence, jealousy all are forms of expressions seen in paintings. Does the artist heal by doing this art? Is the form of expression helping them to let go of these negative emotions after they finish this painting? well the negative emotion sure does tranfer itself to the viewers, in fact a good negtaive emotion painting is sold fast, does the viewer connect to this artwork, are there within each one of us a deep feelings of repressed emotions which need an outlet? so many questions , no answers...
My spiritual journey and art has gone along as true soul companions. Each step of moving ahead on the spiritual ladder my art has transformed from lines, sacred geometry to symbolism and literally using powerful symbols for healing. After doing reiki the deep understanding of emotions, the past karmas block, the negativities all unfolded as each chapter from a book of life. I have learned to accept and divert these energies and infact I feel using healing symbols brings you to your central core where you are connected to the whole universe, you are an important part of the whole picture, ...acceptance heals.
Even after the artist is no more the art remains and I do wish to leave this world leaving behind some happy paintings. I know many feel my art childish,  but I do have a valid answer,
being innocent as a child to paint simple colourful art even after all the qualifications and knowledge  is an art in itself. To let go of the learned knowledge and paint on a blank canvas making your mind blank, let the energies of the universe flow through me as an empty hollow channel for bringing about harmony, peace, good luck and propserity, that is my healing art.
I leave you to think about yourself, your art and your karma, do think about it.

Practical Tips for Buying Paintings Online

Online buying has become very easy nowadays and with a click right from the interiors of your home you can purchase any painting that you like. Any artwork can be shipped to you without any hassles as any other thing that you purchase online. Shopping for paintings for your home or office is as easy as ordering for a pizza. There are few tips that will guide you for purchasing paintings online which I would like to mention here for the benefit of the buyers.
1) Any painting looks very good in the picture and you need to go through the details before finalizing any artwork for purchasing. The blue may be pink and the red may be an maroon so kindly clarify.
The size of paintings is very important to note as you will not be able to hang a very large painting on a small wall whereas too small a painting will go unnoticed on your big living room wall. So look carefully at the size of the painting in the details sections and measure the size accordingly with any other piece of furniture or object for understanding how big or small your painting will be.
2) Clarify whether the painting is framed or not and whether the pricing includes the price , here if the price has the frame costs included you can get a reduction from the total price of painting if you are going to make a customized frame.
3) Use a safe mode of payment, either through credit card or any other online payments options like PayPal, western union money transfer or any other mode you are familiar with.
4) Consider communicating with the artist and see whether you can understand their art because paintings are going to remain for long and it would not be good for buying something which you are not comfortable with. A good artist will try to understand your colour preferences, your religious and natural preferences as well as your cultural preferences before making you purchase any artwork.
This is especially with my symbolic artworks as I do not wish any person to not give respect to my symbols. These are very powerful symbols which need to be kept with respect.
5) Please do not buy art only for the sake of just buying for investment. I know art is the best form of investment now and people just inquire about known artists and continue the purchase even without looking at the paintings but it would be nice if you select the art according to your likes because a painting hung on your wall tells so much about you as an individual and a human being.
6) Do involve the whole family if possible in purchasing art online so that your daughter or son do not feel left out while selecting art for their childrens room.

Learning and relearning, reading, trying out new techniques in painting and well now, just another way to present my art. I know there may be a lot of flaws, some of you who are professional animators will just laugh it off.So for all of you I have not learned animation but just with few simple guidelines from my son, I have tried to do something creative with the originals.
My paintings speak for themselves and do view the art at least twice to understand, not only the artworks but also the effort behind this
Selling and describing your art is not easy and I have felt that however much you try to give your side of explanations the viewer must be able to connect to your ART, your ART. I have been moved by simple art and some paintings confuse me, so I cannot explain what is good art or which painting is good or which is not so good. I feel there is just no way to judge art. It all depends upon your single view point. Another person may present a totally different view of your art. . To be frank landscapes sometimes become boring whereas some viewers are able to connect to some landscape emotionally. So if you do not know anything about art you have no right to judge. each artist is on their own journey and no two people will ever be the same, guess that's the best part of being born as human!
do view the paintings at least twice, you will understand them better. Not only will you get a good glimpse of the work done in the paintings, the symbols , the colours , the strokes, but also the effort and the intention of my healing paintings.

Never have I been satisfied with long explanations on art and paintings. It is impossible to make anyone understand about your painting in few minutes. Never mind if I don't sell, I will keep the respect and image of my healing symbols and never will the power fail.Healing art has been an important part of my paintings and this is something that can only be felt. A viewer might see a single stroke whereas another might write a thesis on the same!

Art Pricing Simple Guidelines

Art Pricing Simple Guidelines

I have displayed art on many online galleries since the past 16 years and many of these galleries have become non-functional I just have no way to update my portfolio or my price list, as even my age mentioned, I am still

Kindly check my art prices, on my healing paintings website. Thankyou!

Absolute Healing on Brown Wall

First of all I would like to mention that all my art prices have been updated and the latest prices are on www.razarts.com. Many art websites where I have displayed my works since the past 16 years have become non-functional and there is no way I can update them.
Art prices is a very tricky topic and how you rate your art is just upon you.
Few Guidelines on how to price your art-
Be practical and rate your art according to the resources and materials you have used. By this I mean canvas, paints and any other materials and do consider the time and efforts you have put in. It is understood that water colours are cheaper than oil paints and canvas is more costly than paper. Still it is upto you to rate your work.
Rate according to the topic. This is what I have to do many times as each artwork is different. The size will not matter but the symbols and the techniques or the meditation processes involved in the healing artwork are different and have different meanings, so I have to rate each artwork according to the healing energies involved. So no matter you see a single symbol it may be more powerful and rare and a painting with loads of work may be rated low. This happens with many artists when they rate according to the emotional experiences involved with each artwork.
Be realistic- Try to see how much art is selling and the rates. Just for information and guidelines. You cannot just go about with your own price list even when art is not selling. There is also a fear of you becoming labelled as a costly artist and people will shy away from looking at your work, leave aside purchasing! Now this is the tricky part, to get the right price, trial and error method.
Never force a purchase as sales , I would not market my art as discounted price because it would be a disrespect to the symbols used in my art. Unless I am convinced that the healee is in dire need of the healing through my art  I will only then let go of the commanded price. I am not aware of the real world outside in the sales field but it would be good to first rate your own work and then keep to it, otherwise you will not have any good base, and people out there are waiting to give free unwanted advice, just go by your gut feelings in pricing, it always works.
One most important tip especially for online galleries and website- Keep your prices updated and keep gradually increasing them maybe two to three years or according to your presence in the art world. This has happened with me, since I have registered on many online galleries I had my works displayed since  the past 12 years. Now many of these art websites have become non-functional and there is no way I can update them . So I am stuck up with the prices of 12 years back for my art pieces. Here comes the help of blogs and websites where you keep updated information so that you do not mis lead the buyers and also are not at a loss when you are approached for a purchase.
Commitment to buyers in pricing and Universal Pricing- If you have committed to a lower price then keep it. Do not back out, keep your reputation and just go ahead with the sale of your art. The field of art pricing is not an emotional one where you say a different price for a business person and some thing different for the next door person. Buyers have access to internet and they enquire about prices in different galleries and may feel  cheated if the same piece is available at less on some other gallery.
So all the  best for making good art, remember art that is good sells.
I aim to make simple, colourful, understandable art. Healing Artist Raz.
